ISEE Preparation

The ISEE (Independent School Entrance Exam) is a standardized test required for admission to many independent schools. Schools in the Puget Sound area that require the ISEE include: The Seattle Academy, The Overlake School, Lakeside School, and others.

There are three levels of the test: Lower (for students entering grades 5 and 6), Middle (for students entering grades 7 and 8) and Upper (for students entering grades 9-12). All levels of the test contain the same five sections: Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, and Mathematics Achievement, plus an essay. The test takes a little over three hours.

We have found that students at these grade levels are much more successful receiving test preparation instruction either in a one-on-one environment or in small groups of students of similar skill levels. Thus, we do not offer any regular classroom course for the ISEE at the present time.

If you are interested in ISEE preparation for your child, contact us and we can discuss a preparation program that best suits your child's test preparation needs and work out a schedule that is convenient for you. If you know of a number of students who could meet on the same schedule, we can set up small group tutoring at rates per student significantly below our standard tutoring costs.

Our tutoring rates are available here. Our ISEE instructor is Steve Sandweiss.

Free Diagnostic Test:

The best method to determine a student's test preparation needs for the ISEE is to take a full practice test. Sandweiss Test Prep offers one full ISEE free of charge to any interested student. We will proctor the test, score it, and analyze the student's performance. We recommend, but do not require, a diagnostic for all students starting ISEE tutoring. To schedule a free diagnostic, contact us.
